Welcome to Media Studies at Rutgers-Camden

The media studies minor is an interdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on the history and theory of media. The minor critically examines dead media and new media in global, cultural, social, political, and economical contexts.

Media-saturation. It’s inescapable. The study of media is critical to understanding globalization and it is the major contributor to the ever-shrinking digital divide.

The proliferation of media has made its study applicable to most disciplines. The combination of a Media Studies Minor with other Rutgers-Camden majors prepares students for advance study of the media as well as depth in future career goals. Combinations include Business and Media, Art and Media, all Social Sciences and Media, History and Media, Childhood Studies and Media, Computer Science and Media, English and Media, Religion and Media, and others.
